our mission

Our goal at Falmouth Baptist Church is to become more like Christ Jesus and to testify about Him with the hope that all will accept Him as Lord and Savior!

This means that we believe as a church we must know this Holy God deeply so that we can share the gospel or "good news" of salvation through Jesus Christ. We actively pray that our actions, words, and direction gives glory and honor to God as we testify about Him.

We believe in preaching God's Word and not man's opinion. We engage in trying to extract meaning from the Scriptures to apply into our daily lives.

"We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ."

1 John 1:3

OUR HISTORY

Falmouth Baptist Church was organized on August 2, 1891 with ten charter members. The church was a member of the Potomac association until 1903 when it joined with the Hermon Association. In 1958 the Fredericksburg Baptist Association was formed, and Falmouth withdrew from the Hermon Association to become a member of this new Association.

The original building of wooden construction was completed and dedicated in 1892 and is still standing at the corner of Cambridge and Forbes streets. The church purchased land in February 1946, and construction was begun in 1954 for an educational building and temporary sanctuary. Ten years later, on September 1, 1964, construction was begun on the present sanctuary. Work was completed in January 1966, and dedication services were held on March 13, 1966.

Falmouth has continued to be a active presence in the community for over 100 years and will remain so for the kingdom of God.
